Your email briefing
Your briefing lands in your inbox on your schedule — already edited down to what matters. Here's what's inside it, and the things you can do right from the email.
Briefings come in a few depths — from a quick Standard read to a thorough Ultra-deep edition. Switch the tabs below to compare the same person's briefing at each depth, so you can find the one that fits your time. (Change yours anytime with Smart Edit.)
Real briefings at three depths — switch tabs, toggle the site's light/dark, and scroll inside the pane to read the whole thing.
What's inside
Top to bottom, a briefing is laid out like a front page:
- A header — the date, and a quick line showing who it's personalized for, how many stories it holds, and your estimated reading time.
- A short intro that frames the day in your context.
- Your stories, grouped into sections by topic.
- The Big Picture — the cross-cutting trends that tie the day's stories together.
- What to Expect — upcoming events worth keeping on your radar.
- How we built this briefing — the funnel behind it: how many sources we scanned, read in full, cross-verified, and ultimately selected for you.
Reading a story
Each story is a compact card built to be skimmed:
- A topic label, so you can see at a glance what it's about.
- A headline that links straight to the original source.
- The gist — what actually happened.
- Why it matters — the "so what," written for you. Deeper formats also add Perspectives: the competing takes on a story.
- Sources — "Verified across N sources," with a link to each outlet so you can check the reporting yourself (deeper formats show each source's date, too).
- An Ask a follow-up → link — see Dig deeper with AI below.
Things you can do with it
Read it on the web
The View in browser link opens your briefing as a web page — handy for reading on another device or sharing. The web version is anonymized (see A note on privacy).
Listen
Every briefing can be narrated. The audio is attached to the email — press play right in your mail app — or tap View here to listen on the web. Prefer your podcast app? The Subscribe as a podcast → link takes you to the subscribe box on your briefing page, where you'll find your feed URL and step-by-step instructions for Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and more. Full details in Audio & podcasts.
Dig deeper with AI
Under each story, Ask a follow-up → opens that story on the web with a one-tap Copy for AI ready to go — paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and keep pulling the thread past what the briefing had room for.
Save, like, and revisit
Want to keep a story for later, mark a favorite, or clear what you've read? Those controls live in your dashboard — see Using your briefing. Liking stories also helps your briefing learn what you care about.
Make it yours
Manage your briefing (in the header and the footer) opens the portal, where you can change your schedule, topics, audio voice, and email theme — see Your settings. The little ☀ / 🌙 in the email header jumps straight to your theme setting.
Unsubscribe anytime
Every briefing has a one-click Unsubscribe in the footer, and your mail app's built-in unsubscribe button works too. No friction, ever.
A note on privacy
The briefing in your inbox is personalized to you — your name, your intro. The public web version behind View in browser is anonymized, so you can share it without sharing your personal framing. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
